The CDET UK Directory Online
The CDET UK Directory of Registered Dance Teachers Online
Attached is an application form for entry into the 2010 edition of the UK Directory of Registered Dance Teachers Online published by The Council for Dance Education and Training.
The UK Directory Online is the most comprehensive register of dance teachers in the country. Published since 1999, it contains contact details of qualified dance teachers who are members of one of five Dance Awarding Bodies to be validated by the Council. It is the first point of reference for parents, students, primary and secondary schools looking for locally based, qualified dance teachers and offers the public an assurance that a teacher’s qualifications are of a high standard and that s/he adheres to CDET’s Code of Professional Conduct and Practice for Teachers of Dance. The Directory Online is the most frequently sourced method by individuals, libraries, schools and career services for gaining information.
The Directory Online will be available in January 2010. As you are a member of one of CDET’s validated dance Awarding Organisations, you are entitled to an entry to The Directory Online. If you would like your details to be included please complete the enclosed application form, print out and return it by Friday 29th January together with a cheque for £30.00 made payable to CDET, to Claire Bradley at The Council for Dance Education and Training.
Please do not hesitate to contact me on 020 7240 5703 or c.bradley@cdet.org.uk if you have any questions regarding completion of the form.
With best wishes,

Carl Alan Awards
The Carl-Alan Awards were first introduced in 1953 by Eric Morley and were named after the joint Chairmen of Mecca Carl Heimann and Alan Fairley.
The International Dance Teachers' Association is proud to present the 2010 Carl Alan Awards on Sunday 7th February, in conjunction with the IDTA President’s Dinner and Dance, at the Lancaster London (formerly the Royal Lancaster Hotel). The IDTA are pleased that all three sections of the awards are presented: Freestyle, Theatre, Ballroom, Latin & Sequence
There are five categories of awards in each section: Performer's Award, Teacher's Award, Competitive Coach/Choreography Award, Outstanding Services to Dance Award and Lifetime Achievement Award
All recognised dance associations or societies were invited to make nominations in all categories and each member body of the British Dance Council or Theatre Dance Council International was invited to send a delegate to represent them on each of the selection committees. The IDTA remained independent in the selection process.
From the many nominations received, the selection committees are asked to short-list up to three nominees in each category. To be nominated for a Carl Alan Award by your peers reflects the nominee's considerable contribution to the world of dance. IDTA would like to congratulate all the nominees; unfortunately there can only be one winner in each category.
