We are writing to you with regards to our Classical and TheatreJazz & Tap Awards that are being held in the IDTA South East area in September & November this year.
We are delighted to once again be holding these awards at the Chequer Mead Theatre, East Grinstead and would love to see you and as many of your students as possible at the event. It was lovely to see everyone last year and we are looking forward to welcoming you back to the event to celebrate the talent we have in the South East area.
If you have never been, please let me explain a little more about it. The events are the brainchild of Miss Yvonne Gout, who wanted to offer those “once a week” children the opportunity to take part in a competition and to take a class with a guest tutor. Dancers must have achieved a pass mark of 83% or above in the relevant genre and can be nominated by their teacher to attend. They take part in a class in front of an adjudicating panel and finalists are selected to dance again for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place and then all the other dancers get the opportunity to dance again for the Endeavour Award. Everyone is made to feel special and the event really is a lovely day for all concerned. Guest tutors and adjudicators are brought in from outside of the South East area to ensure that adjudication is impartial.
We are also hoping to run our “cabaret” event, where schools can enter show number for our showcase at the end of the TheatreJazz and Tap day. The cabaret show will be adjudicated by the class tutors and dignitaries for that day and 1st, 2nd & 3rd places will be awarded. It was a fantastic evening when we ran it a few years ago and we are hoping to be able to do the same this time round as well.
If you have never been before and would like to talk to someone about the day then please feel free to contact Amanda 07768 173055 or email – email@example.com as we would like to reach out to as many of you as possible and make this a celebration of dance in the South East.
If you are interested in attending, then please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we can send out the entry forms and all other relevant information so that you have everything you need to know. The confirmed dates are as follows –
Classical Performance Awards – Sunday 25th September 2022
TheatreJazz, Tap & Cabaret Awards – Sunday 20th November 2022
Let’s fly the flag for the IDTA in the South East and celebrate the talent that we have.
We look forward to meeting as many of you as possible over the two days.
