On Thursday 4 November, the ISTD will be hosting a Membership Matters talk with Joyce Gyimah-Distefano, who will look at how teachers can approach and celebrate diversity in their dance environments. This session will continue some of the conversations that came up in their Talking Dance: Improving Racial Equity symposium earlier this year. They have kindly extended an invitation to the event to all IDTA members. The following themes and questions will be discussed:
- The benefits and importance of inclusive practice – Why do we need inclusivity and ethnic diversity in our classes?
- Where to begin – How to Identify resources and start planning an inclusive class/ programme of events.
- Evaluation: Next Steps.
Joyce is an engaging speaker, and it will be an interesting session with a lot of useful tips. If you are interested in booking you can do so for free via Eventbrite as a member and you will not be charged the £15.00 non-member fee.
