“Nellie Stagles” is almost an institution in Doncaster, as we have been part of Doncaster’s cultural life since 1937, when at the tender age of 17 Miss Stagles opened her dancing school.
A young and slightly nervous Nellie opened the doors of her school in January 1937, at the Empire Ballroom, Hexthorpe. Up until her demise in 2007 (at the age of 87), her passion and desire for art of dance remained unchanged.
Still to this day, the ‘Nellie Stagles School of Theatre Dance’ remains one of the largest and most successful schools in South Yorkshire and Doncaster’s premier school of dance with over 400 hundred dedicated pupils attending dancing classes every week, with five studios located throughout Doncaster.
The teachers and pupils alike work extremely hard, balancing hard work and dedication with a fun and caring learning environment. It is this balance that ensures we continue with our 100% success rate in all our I.D.T.A and R.A.D examinations.
