IDTA Showcase Gala 2009

The IDTA Showcase Gala is a biennial event. The first performance took place in 1989 at the Mermaid Theatre. The Gala gives children and teenagers the opportunity to audition for a show and if successful perform on a major theatre stage. At the same time the performers are able to help children who are less fortunate. The organisers select charities, which support children so that the performers can identify with the people they are helping. Performances have been staged at The Royalty, The Mermaid and Her Majesty’s theatres.

The proceeds from the Galas have assisted The Children’s Society, ChildLine, The Children’s Trust, Cystic Fibrosis Holiday Fund for Children, Great Ormond Street Hospital, the Stars Organisation supporting action for people with cerebral palsy and the Starlight Children’s Foundation. The IDTA Benevolent Fund also benefits from the Showcase Gala. Supporters of the event include; Dame Beryl Grey, Bonny Langford, Rosemary Ford, Debbie McGee, Derek Hartley, Simon Parkin, EMI, Deborah Bull.

The 2009 Showcase Gala will take place on Sunday 5 July 2009, at the Southport Theatre, Southport, in aid of CLIC Sargent (www.clicsargent.org.uk ) and the IDTA Benevolent Fund. Tickets will be on sale from 1 May 2009 from IDTA Head Office.
