Fellowship

The IDTA Fellowship qualification develops a dance teacher’s knowledge and skills to the highest level and enables them to teach dance in their chosen genre.

How will you be assessed?

The Fellowship qualification is a practical examination conducted by an IDTA appointed Examiner. Candidates are required to produce a portfolio for the IDTA Examiner to review in advance of the examination. Candidates will be asked to demonstrate and discuss with the Examiner all aspects of the Fellowship syllabus. Technical aspects of the examination are from the Advanced 2 Performers Award. Candidates are also required to teach a small class of pupils so the Examiner may observe their teaching skills.

Prerequisites

Candidates will be required to have held the Licentiate Ballet certificate for a minimum of one year prior to the examination. Full details are given in the appropriate "Technique of Theatre Dance Book" available from the IDTA Shop.

Fees

Candidates for IDTA dance teaching qualifications are required to apply using the IDTA Professional Application Form and pay the examination fee in advance. Training fees are set by the teacher.

Examination syllabi, technical information and resources

The syllabi and technique for the Fellowship qualifications are listed in the appropriate "Technique of Theatre Dance Book". The candidate will require a copy of the "Theatre Dance Syllabus, Grades and Medals" and also access to the set music CDs for the appropriate genre and level of examination.
